Hungary: Hotels and accommodation

Budapest church
There are plenty of international hotel chains located around Hungary including Novotel, the Four Seasons and Sofitel with particular recommendations being the Art’otel or any of the Danubius properties (a reputable hotel chain offering therapeutic and wellbeing stays in the four star range).

You can expect to pay between 12,000 Ft (approximately £33) and 20,000 Ft (£55) for a room in a three star hotel in Hungary and between 20,000 Ft and 40,000 Ft for a four star - with £1 being approximately 366 Hungarian Ft.  The three star hotels offer good value for money but as the exchange rate is good in Hungary you might want to consider a luxurious four star hotel and there are plenty to choose from - peruse the extensive list of four star hotel, and five star hotel options here.  Or why not take advantage of the rejuvenating and relaxing properties of Hungary's many thermal spas and stay at a spa hotel such as the four star Margitsziget Thermal Hotel on Margaret’s Island.  Be aware that hotel prices are often more expensive in the capital, Budapest, depending on location.

Hotels in Budapest

In Budapest, Hotel Zara is a boutique hotel which advertises single rooms from €124 (approximately £84) and doubles from €150 (approximately £100).  The four star boutique styled Art 'Otel by the Park Plaza located on the Danube River advertises rooms from €84 euros (approximately £58).  Equally, the four star Radisson SAS Beke in downtown Budapest has standard, superior and business class rooms with standard rooms advertised from €85 per night (c. £58).

For a truly luxurious experience try the four star Danubius spa hotel Gellert, one of the more traditional hotels in Budapest.  Meanwhile, the less expensive three star Hotel Erzsebet, also one of the Danubius hotels range, is situated in the heart of the city just a few minute's walk from the main shops and centre and offers rooms from €68 per night (approximately £46).

Outside of Budapest

Some of the dentistry clinics are located outside of the capital and in other parts of the country, Györ for example is an attractive cultural town with thermal spas located between Vienna and Budapest.  The four star Schweizerhof hotel in Gyor is a lovely quiet hotel set at the foot of an ancient castle and has double rooms from around €80 (approximately £60) and the three star Hotel Raba in Gyor (also part of the Danubius chain of hotels) has rooms from 19,000 Ft (approximately £52).

Hotels in Mosonmagyaróvár

Another popular location for the medical tourist is Mosonmagyaróvár, located in the north-west corner of Hungary, forty miles south of Vienna.  The Hotel Lajta Park is a newly built four star hotel in the heart of Mosonmagyaróvár, 10 km from the Austrian and Slovakian border of Hungary close to all the attractions, thermal bath, museums, pubs and shops and surrounded by a park.  It offers double rooms from €55 to €75 (between £35 and £50) depending on the season and the comfortable three star Corvina Hotel is a hotel-restaurant in the centre of Mosonmagyaróvár, 15 km from the Austrian-Hungarian and Slovakian-Hungarian frontiers with double rooms from 11,200 Ft (approximately £30).  The three star Thermal Hotel offers double rooms in their relaxing, health-inducing hotel from €72 (approximately £50).
